Kompdesk analyses your music file automatically and provides feedback on quality and duration.
Quality Badges
After uploading, a colour-coded badge shows the audio quality:
| Badge | Bitrate Range | Colour |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Below 128 kbps | Red |
| Acceptable | 128–191 kbps | Amber |
| Good | 192–255 kbps | Green |
| High | 256 kbps or higher | Green |
| Lossless | WAV (any bitrate) | Green |
If the organiser has set a minimum quality requirement and your file is below it, a warning is displayed. You can still upload the file, but you should consider using a higher-quality version.
Duration Detection
Kompdesk reads the duration directly from your audio file. This is more accurate than manually entering the time.
- Duration appears automatically after uploading
- If you also entered a duration manually and it differs by more than 5 seconds, you will be prompted to sync them
- Click Use music duration to update the entry's duration to match the actual track length
Time Limit Comparison
If the entry has a time limit (set by the performance type), a progress bar compares your music duration against it:
- Green: your music is comfortably within the time limit
- Yellow: your music is over 90% of the time limit
- Red: your music exceeds the time limit, with the overage shown
Exceeding the time limit does not prevent upload, but you should trim your track or speak with the organiser about the allowed duration.
