When music upload is enabled for a competition, you will see a music upload section on the entry form. Here is how to use it.
Step 1: Select Your File
You have two options:
- Drag and drop your MP3 or WAV file onto the upload area
- Click the upload area to open a file browser and select your file
The upload area shows the supported formats (MP3, WAV) and the 50 MB size limit.
Step 2: Review the File Details
After selecting a file, Kompdesk automatically:
- Detects the duration of the track
- Calculates the bitrate and shows a quality badge
- Compares the duration to your entry's time limit
You will see:
- The file name and size
- Duration in minutes and seconds
- A quality badge (Low, Acceptable, Good, or High)
- An audio player to preview the track
Step 3: Check for Warnings
Time Limit Warning
If your music is longer than the allowed performance time, a warning bar appears:
- Green: music is within the time limit
- Yellow: music is close to the time limit (over 90%)
- Red: music exceeds the time limit (shows how much over)
Bitrate Warning
If the organiser set a minimum quality and your file is below it, a yellow alert shows the actual bitrate vs. the required minimum. WAV files always pass quality checks as they are lossless.
Duration Mismatch
If you manually entered a duration that differs from the detected music duration by more than 5 seconds, a prompt appears offering to sync the entry duration with the actual music length.
Step 4: Submit the Entry
Once you are happy with the music file, continue filling in the rest of the entry form and submit. The music uploads in the background. You do not need to wait for it to finish before navigating away.
Important Notes
- Music upload is not available for battle entries: the organiser manages battle tracks
- After entries close you can no longer edit the entry itself, but a studio can still upload or replace the music file from the studio portal's Music page until the end of the day before the event starts
- From the day the event starts, only the organiser can add or change music: contact them if you need to
