Each performance type has a maximum duration set by the event organiser. Your routine must not exceed this limit. Some events also set a minimum duration for certain performance types; entries shorter than the minimum cannot be saved either.
How Duration Works
When creating an entry, you enter your routine length in minutes and seconds (e.g., 2 minutes 45 seconds).
- The system automatically validates against the maximum allowed for that performance type
- A few seconds of grace is applied in your favour on both sides, so a track that runs slightly over (or under a minimum) is still accepted
- If your duration exceeds the limit past the grace window, you will see: "Duration exceeds maximum of X min Y sec"
- If the event sets a minimum and your duration is below it, you will see: "Duration is below the minimum of X"
- You must adjust the duration before you can save the entry
- Uploaded music is checked the same way, with the same grace in your favour
Different Limits for Different Types
Maximum durations vary by performance type. Common examples:
| Performance Type | Typical Max Duration |
|---|---|
| Solo | 2–3 minutes |
| Duo / Trio | 3–4 minutes |
| Small Group | 4–5 minutes |
| Large Group | 5–7 minutes |
The actual limits are set by each organiser and may differ between events. Check the event information or section details for specifics.
Tips
- Enter your music length as the duration. This should match your actual performance time
- If the seconds field goes above 59, it automatically rolls over into minutes
- Duration limits help organisers keep the schedule on track
- If you believe the limit is too short for your category, contact the event organiser
