Closing a Day

What the Close Day panel checks, what blocks a close, and how out of section dancers who have not started stay on the list for later days.

When the last item of a day is finished, the organiser or the MC closes the day. Closing finalises results, locks scoring and marks the day complete so the next day can begin.

Where to close a day

  • MC page: Close Day button, also reachable from the organiser dashboard once the day's last item completes. Both open the same panel.

What the panel shows

Sections still in progress. A section completes through judge scoring; it cannot be forced. If a judge is unreachable, mark them offline from the panel and completion finalises on the next sync.

Sections waiting on scores. For each section, every available judge who still owes scores and the entries they owe them for, with a Mark unavailable button per judge.

Out of section dancers being scored now. A dancer who has started their out of section performance and has not yet been scored by every judge on their panel blocks the close. The panel lists them with the entry, the studio and the slot. Two ways to clear a row:

  • wait for the judges to finish scoring the dancer;
  • mark absent judges unavailable from the panel, so the dancer no longer waits on them.

Out of section dancers who stay on the list. Dancers who were skipped, or booked into an Out of section item, and have not started do not block the close. The panel shows them in an information box and they stay on the judges' Out of section list on every later day until they are scored, scratched, or the event ends. Nobody has to rebook them. The judges can score them from their list during a break, an awards item or an Out of section item, or tap Scratch dancer for a dancer who never came. You can also tap Move to a later day and choose an Out of section item on a later day, which is optional: the dancer then dances pre-arranged, scored and recognised, but never placed. The judges on that item's stage that day score them, whether or not they judged the dancer's section; if nobody is assigned there yet, the panel warns you after the move. The button is disabled, with the reason, when no later-day item exists or the dancer has already performed.

On the last day of the event the panel adds a warning: dancers still on the list stay unscored unless the judges score or scratch them before the day closes.

Open non-performance items. Breaks, announcements and Out of section items still open will be marked completed when the day closes.

Confirming the close

Type CLOSE and confirm. The day is marked complete, open non-performance items are completed, an audit record is written, and results are revealed per the event's visibility settings.

Reopening a closed day

A closed day cannot be reopened from the app. To correct a score afterwards use Correct Results. For structural recovery, contact support.

Audit

Every close is recorded in the event's Activity Log with who closed it, when, and the missing-score and out-of-section summary at the time.
