Viewing and Managing Results

View competition results and control when they are visible to participants.

The Results page shows scores, placements, awards, and certificates for all entries at your event. As an organiser, you see results for all studios and all sections.

Accessing Results

From the Event Dashboard sidebar, click Results under Event Tools.

Results Tabs

The Results page has these tabs (Battle Results appears only when the event has battle entries):

Results by Schedule Tab

Lists only the sections that are on the current schedule, in running order. If you cleared and rebuilt the schedule, sections you left out do not appear here; a line above the list says how many were left out, and their results stay on the Results tab. If the schedule cannot be read, every section is listed with a warning so a failed read never hides results. The tab re-reads the schedule when you return to the browser tab, so changes made in the Schedule Builder show up without a reload.

Results Tab

Entries are grouped by section. For each entry you can see:

  • Rank/placement
  • Entry number and routine name
  • Dancer names and studio
  • Overall score

Expanding an entry reveals detailed scoring per judge, including individual criteria scores and comments (if enabled).

Search and filter: Search by routine name, dancer name, entry number, or studio. Filter by specific sections using the "Sections" button.

Podium threshold banner: If podium thresholds are enabled, a banner shows the minimum score required for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Printing Results

The Print Results button at the top of the table prints the current (filtered) set of entries as a clean results sheet, ideal for announcing awards on stage.

Three safeguards protect you from printing stale scores:

  1. Print is blocked until scoring is complete. If any entry in your current filter is still waiting on a judge's score, the Print Results button is disabled and a yellow banner appears above it listing the entries still pending. This prevents the "printed a 91 but the final average was 88.25" scenario where a last judge submits between print and announcement. Expand "Show entries" in the banner to see exactly which routines are holding things up.
  2. The printed sheet stamps its own date and time. Every printout header now reads e.g. "Printed 20 Apr 2026 at 15:22", so if anyone ever questions a paper result, you can reconcile it against the live scores by time.
  3. Every print is audit-logged. A record of exactly what was on the paper (entry numbers, ranks, scores, filters applied) is written to the system audit log. Admins can review printed results in Admin → Security → Audit Logs (action: RESULTS_PRINTED). Any later dispute is resolved by looking up the print and comparing.
Why this matters: Prints taken before every judge has submitted capture a partial average. If judge 1 scored 91 and judge 2 scored 91, a two-judge print shows 91.00, but when judges 3 and 4 later submit 77 and 74, the final average drops to 78.25. The safeguards above catch this class of error before the paper ever leaves the printer.

Certificates and Awards: Section-Complete Rule

Certificates, placements ("Top 3 by Section"), and top-score awards are only generated and shown once the relevant section is locked, i.e. the section's slot on the live schedule has been marked complete and its scoresFinalized flag is set. This means:

  • Certificates for an entry won't appear anywhere (organizer tab, dancer portal, independent portal, studio trophy case, guardian view) until that entry's section is locked.
  • Placement awards ("1st / 2nd / 3rd by Section") in the Awards tab skip any section that isn't locked.
  • Top Score (Section) and Top Score (Overall) winner awards exclude entries from still-scoring sections, so a winner can't be declared while judges can still change scores.
  • Top Score per Session winners are only declared once every section in that session is locked. A session is the block of sections before each Awards item in the schedule; a still-scoring section could change the session winner, so the whole session must be locked first. Until then the organizer Awards tab shows the session as Waiting with the sections it still needs, and the event dashboard shows the holder while an awards ceremony is on stage or next up. Sections after a day's last Awards item are in no session and cannot win this award; the Awards tab and the Awards editor warn when that happens.

On the organizer Certificates tab you'll see a yellow banner listing sections that are still awaiting finalisation, so you know what's being held back and why.

Visibility rules still apply on top: if results aren't published yet, or you're hiding the top N placements for a reveal ceremony, those rules layer on top of the section-complete rule. Portal users only ever see certificates/awards that pass both gates.

Nominations Tab

Shows all judge nominations:

  • Gala nominations: entries nominated by judges for the gala showcase, with nomination count and which judges nominated
  • Custom award nominations: entries nominated for custom awards you configured

Best Studio Tab

Studio-level leaderboard for picking a "Best Studio" award. Three scoring methods you can switch between with a radio button. The table re-sorts instantly.

Average Score: mean score across all of a studio's entries. Fair to studios with fewer entries; rewards consistent quality over volume.

Total Points: sum of every entry's average score. Rewards studios that bring the most entries (big rosters win).

Placement Points: a weighted points system built from three contributions, shown as separate columns when this method is selected:

ContributionPoints
Podium (per section)1st = 5, 2nd = 3, 3rd = 1
Judge Awards2 points per gala-nominated entry, 2 points per distinct judge-nomination custom award an entry receives
Special Awards2 points per configured section-top-score win, 2 points for the configured overall-top-score win

Running ranking: the tab updates as scores come in; you do not need to wait for sections to finalise. Battles and entries with no studio (independents) are excluded.

Podium thresholds are honored. If podium thresholds are enabled, the tab shows a blue banner with the thresholds. Entries manually promoted by the organiser (Correct Results → Promote above threshold) are counted normally toward podium totals. The banner tells you how many entries are currently promoted.

1st / 2nd / 3rd column: shows each studio's count of podium placements with gold/silver/bronze badges. Muted when zero. With strict thresholds (e.g. 1st ≥ 95) it is normal for many studios to have zeroes.

Controlling Result Visibility

Results visibility is controlled from the Result Visibility card in the Event Editor:

  1. Open the event in the Event Editor and go to Result Visibility (or Results and Scoring)
  2. Choose "Results to Display": show all, or hide top 3 / 4 / 5 placements
  3. Choose "When to Reveal Hidden Results": always show, after each section, after awards, end of day, end of event, or manual reveal
  4. For full control, pick "Manual reveal" and use the "Reveal results now" button on the dashboard, settings, or results page
Note (2026-05-07): The old standalone "Publish Results" toggle
was removed. Reveal timing is now the sole gate, and **Manual
reveal** replaces the previous "off" state for the master toggle.
Anything scored after a manual-reveal click stays hidden until the
next click.

Important Notes

  • Results are calculated automatically from judge scores. You do not need to manually calculate or release them
  • Podium thresholds (if enabled) are applied automatically
  • Ties are handled using standard competition ranking rules (see "How Ties and Rankings Work")
  • Hiding top placements lets you reveal them at the awards ceremony
