Kompdesk generates links for your event that you can share with studios, dancers, judges, and spectators. All of them except the Event Portal link work without requiring the recipient to log in.
Available Shareable Links
From your Event Dashboard, find the Registration and Sharing Links section. You can copy any of the following links:
| Link | Who It Is For | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Event Registration | Studios, dancers, judges | Opens the event registration page where anyone can sign up for your event |
| Event Portal | Registered studios, teachers, dancers, parents and judges | Asks the person to sign in, then opens their own portal for this event: the studio portal for a studio owner or teacher, the dancer portal for a dancer, the parent view for a guardian. Someone who is not registered yet is taken to the registration page instead |
| Ticket Purchase | Spectators | Opens the public ticket purchasing page (only available if ticketing is enabled) |
| Spectator Portal | Ticket holders | Opens the portal where ticket holders view their tickets, the schedule, and venue information |
| Live Schedule | Everyone | Shows the public competition schedule with real-time updates |
| MC View | Master of Ceremonies | Enhanced schedule with dancer names, entry numbers, and judge assignments |
| Dancer Check-In | Check-in staff | Opens the dancer check-in interface for your staff |
| Ticket Check-In | Door staff | Opens the ticket scanning interface for door staff |
| Music Player | Tech team | Opens the music playback dashboard for the event |
How to Copy and Share
- Go to your Event Dashboard
- Find the Registration and Sharing Links card
- Click any link card to copy it to your clipboard
- A checkmark appears briefly to confirm the copy
- Paste and share the link via email, WhatsApp, social media, or your website
QR Codes
Every link card has a Download QR Code button. The download is a print-ready image with the name and the link label above the code.
Event Registration, Event Portal, Ticket Purchase, Spectator Portal and Live Schedule use the same link and QR code for every event you run. Their cards say Same link for every event. Print them once on banners, pull-up stands, posters, flyers or table cards and reuse them year after year. When someone scans one, Kompdesk opens that page for your current event:
- The event that is running today
- If nothing is running, your next upcoming event
- If nothing is upcoming, your most recent event. This applies to Live Schedule, Spectator Portal and Event Portal only, so people can still open the programme and results of an event that has finished
Event Registration and Ticket Purchase never open an event that has finished. With nothing running or upcoming, the visitor sees a short notice to check back later.
The Event Registration link also prefers the event that is still accepting entries, so during an event it already points to your next one.
Each of these cards shows Opens now, so you can always see where the link leads today.
The staff links (MC View, Dancer Check-In, Ticket Check-In and Music Player) belong to one event, because they open working tools. Each event has its own staff links and QR codes. They never change while the event exists, including when you edit it, change its dates, or rebuild and republish the schedule.
Staff links now go with Event Staff. The best way to give your MC, tech team or check-in desk access is to invite them under Event Staff Access and tick the screens they need (see "Event staff and what they can open"). They sign in and find those screens in their Staff Portal. The links above still work as follows:
- MC View, MC Access and Music Player: until 25 Nov 2026 anyone with the link can still open them, under a banner that says this is ending. From 25 Nov 2026 the person must be signed in with an account that holds the matching screen, otherwise they see a sign-in card or an "ask the organiser" message
- Dancer Check-In and Ticket Check-In: the person must be signed in and be you or a staff member with that screen
Running More Than One Event at a Time
The links never guess between your events. When more than one could be meant, the person scanning sees a short list and picks one. The event on stage today is always listed first and marked On today.
| Link | What it opens when several events are open |
|---|---|
| Live Schedule, Spectator Portal and Event Portal | The event on stage today. If none is on today, the next one to start. A list only appears when two events are on stage the same day, or start on the same day |
| Ticket Purchase | At an event that is on today and sells tickets, straight to its ticket page (the door). Otherwise a list of every upcoming event that sells tickets |
| Event Registration | A list of every event still accepting entries |
Only events with ticket sales switched on (and not set to free spectator entry) are offered by the Ticket Purchase link.
If an event runs on selected days only (for example three weekends), it only counts as "on today" on those days.
Good to know:
- Only published events count. A draft or unpublished event is never opened
- If your current event has no schedule yet, the Live Schedule link tells the visitor it is not available yet. It does not show an older schedule
Schedule Codes
Each event's public schedule page and its MC View use a unique schedule code. The Live Schedule link opens the schedule page of your current event, so you never need to share the code itself. The code:
- Is created the first time you open the Schedule Builder for the event
- Stays the same for the life of the event, including after you rebuild or republish the schedule
- Provides read-only access to the public schedule. No login required. (The MC View built on the same code is a staff screen: see the note on staff links above)
- Updates in real time as you manage the live schedule
- Can be shared freely with anyone
If a staff link appears greyed out or disabled, it means the required feature has not been configured yet (e.g., the schedule has not been started).
Tips
- Share the Event Registration link on your social media and website for maximum reach
- Invite your MC under Event Staff Access before the event so they can familiarise themselves with the schedule from their Staff Portal
- The Live Schedule link is great for parents and spectators who want to follow along on their phones
- Invite your check-in desk and door staff under Event Staff Access rather than only sending the check-in links: the links only work for signed-in people who hold that screen
- Printing something you will use again next year? The registration, ticket, spectator and schedule QR codes work for every event you run
