As a judge, the live schedule keeps you in sync with the competition flow. Your scores directly drive schedule progression.
Important: The schedule cannot advance until every assigned judge has scored every entry in the current section. If you stop scoring or leave, the entire competition schedule stalls for everyone: other judges, participants, and spectators. Always complete your assigned sections.
How Scoring Affects the Schedule
Each time you submit a score, the system checks whether all assigned judges have scored every entry in the current section:
- Partially scored: Some judges still need to submit. The section stays In Progress and the schedule does not advance.
- Fully scored: Every judge has scored every entry. The section moves to Completed and the next section activates automatically.
You do not need to do anything extra. Just score entries and the schedule updates automatically.
The Schedule Drawer
Tap the menu button (bottom-right of the screen) to open the schedule drawer. It slides in from the right and shows:
- All sections in schedule order with status icons:
- Lock icon: Section is locked (you've completed and moved past it)
- Check icon: All entries scored in this section
- Clock icon: Current active section
- Circle icon: Upcoming, not yet scored
- Progress badge on each section: shows "X/Y" entries scored, "Done", or "Locked"
- Non-performance items: Breaks, warm-ups, and ceremonies shown in grey
Tap a section in the drawer to navigate to it when Free Scoring Mode is enabled (sections are read-only in normal mode). Locked sections cannot be re-entered.
Section Transitions
When you finish the last entry in a section and move to the next, a transition screen appears briefly:
- Shows "Moving to New Section" with the next section's details
- Displays badges for the upcoming section (Age Division, Performance Type, Style, Level)
- Auto-advances after 2 seconds, or tap "Continue Now" to skip ahead
Waiting for Other Judges (Section Leash)
If you score faster than other judges and try to move ahead of the current schedule position, the system will pause you:
- A "Waiting for Other Judges" screen appears
- Shows a list of other judges and their current position (e.g., "Judge A: Section 3 (Entry 5/10)")
- The system polls automatically every few seconds to check if other judges have caught up
- Once the schedule advances, you are automatically resumed
- You can also tap "Check Now" to manually refresh
This ensures all judges stay roughly in sync and no judge races far ahead of the competition flow.
Non-Performance Items
The schedule may include non-performance items between sections, such as:
- Breaks (e.g., lunch break, intermission)
- Warm-ups and setup time
- Ceremonies (e.g., awards ceremony)
When you encounter one, a card appears with the item name and type. Tap "Complete" to acknowledge it and continue to the next section. These items are only shown once per session.
Day and Event Completion
Day Complete:
When you've scored all entries for the current day, a completion screen appears with:
- A congratulatory message
- The day number and total sections completed
- "Back to Dashboard" button
- "View Next Day" option (if the event spans multiple days)
Event Complete:
When all days are done, you'll see a final screen confirming all entries have been judged with a "Back to Event" button.
Free Scoring Mode
Sometimes the organiser may enable Free Scoring Mode so judges can score sections in any order. When this happens:
- A yellow "Free Scoring Mode" banner appears at the top of the judging interface
- The schedule drawer (bottom-right menu button) becomes navigable. Tap any unlocked section to jump to it
- Automatic section progression is paused. You choose which section to judge next
- The section leash (multi-judge sync) is disabled, so you can freely move between sections
- Completed/locked sections cannot be re-entered
When Free Scoring Mode is turned off, automatic progression resumes and the section leash re-engages. If you are ahead of other judges, you may briefly see a "Waiting for Other Judges" screen until they catch up.
Multiple Judges Scoring Simultaneously
The system handles concurrent scoring safely:
- A server-side lock prevents overlapping sync calculations
- If two judges submit scores at the same moment, one sync runs immediately and the other runs on the next score submission
- The final result is always correct because the server reads the latest scores each time
Offline Scoring
If you lose connectivity while judging:
- Scores are saved to a local queue on your device
- When you reconnect, queued scores are automatically submitted
- After the queue is processed, a schedule sync is triggered to update progress
- You will see a notification confirming how many scores were synced
Tip: Keep an eye on the connection indicator in the header. If you see scores queued (red badge), stay on the page until they sync.
Battle Sections
For battle-format sections:
- The schedule tracks battle progression based on vote submissions from all judges
- When all rounds are completed and scores are recorded, the section is marked as complete
- The correct battle scorecard is automatically selected for battle entries
- See the Battle Voting for Judges article for full details on how battle voting works
