Demo Mode: Preview Your Event

Use demo mode to preview your event from the perspective of judges, studios, dancers, guardians, and spectators.

Demo mode lets you experience your event exactly as other users will see it, without affecting any real data. It is a powerful tool for verifying your event setup before going live.

What Is Demo Mode?

Demo mode creates a sandboxed preview of your competition using mock data. You can switch between different user roles to see what each participant will experience:

RoleWhat You See
OrganizerYour standard organizer dashboard and event management tools
JudgeThe judging interface with sample entries and scoring forms
StudioThe studio portal with dashboard, entries, schedule, and fees
DancerThe dancer portal with entries, schedule, and results
GuardianThe guardian dashboard with dancer profiles and event details
SpectatorThe spectator portal with schedule, judges, and public information

How to Access Demo Mode

  1. Open your event dashboard
  2. Look for the "Demo Mode" or "Preview" option
  3. Demo mode opens in a new view with a yellow toolbar at the bottom of the screen

The Role Switcher

While in demo mode, a floating toolbar appears at the bottom of your screen:

  • Role buttons: tap any role (Organizer, Judge, Studio, Dancer, Guardian, Spectator) to switch instantly
  • Active role indicator: the currently selected role is highlighted
  • DEMO MODE label: a pulsing amber indicator confirms you are in demo mode
  • Exit button: returns you to your normal organizer view

What Is Real vs Mock?

RealMock
Your event setup (venue, schedule, sections, fees)Dancer profiles and identities
Your branding and settingsJudge assignments
Your competition configurationStudio registrations
Entries and scores

Demo mode uses your actual event configuration but populates it with sample participants so you can see how everything looks without needing real registrations.

Interactive Walkthroughs

Some demo views include guided walkthroughs: step-by-step tours that highlight key features with explanatory hints. These help you understand the interface from each role's perspective.

Look for hint banners and tour prompts when entering a new role for the first time.

Tips

  • Use demo mode before publishing your event to verify the experience for all roles
  • Check the judge view to confirm your scorecards and scoring criteria appear correctly
  • Preview the studio portal to see how entries, fees, and schedules will look
  • Demo mode does not create any real data. You can explore freely without consequences
  • Your demo session persists across page refreshes but ends when you click Exit
